Surrender
Flowing with the River of Life
The more we go through, the more we experience, the more we get through the other side, the easier it is to surrender. Or maybe, fighting what we are powerless over is so exhausting that surrender comes as a welcome release of our grip on what we can’t control. Between the fires here in Oregon, COVID and the collective energy of the world, we are in a surreal time where the darkness is much louder than the light. As I was sitting with the fires, the evacuations, and people losing all of their belongings, losing their homes, I went into meditation and asked Spirit to show me the light.
What came forward was a giant river. A river flowing through each of our lives. It was moving things, tearing things out, knocking over trees. I saw on the river banks hundreds of people jumping into the river, clinging to trees, afraid of losing their tree. Which in this case I felt represented our lives, our dreams, hopes, ideas, plans, travel, material things. Everything we identify with outside of physical form and divine center. I saw Great Spirit standing in the middle of the river smiling. How can you be smiling I thought?! Can’t you see we are suffering? And Spirit said to us: You are forgetting the river doesn’t only wash away. The river never stops flowing! It provides, it continues to flow, it will bring all you need. This is a time of cleansing. Let go. Sit on the bank in peace. Allow the river to flow and trust in me. I will take care of you. So many sat. Some jumped into the river and helped people out on to the shore and some decided not to let go and Spirit sent an animal, a guide, to be with them on their journey. The energy calmed, the fear was not so consuming, and suddenly instead of loss, we began to see a making way for something new.
Surrender. It is so hard to surrender. To let go of the grip and to trust in the river of life. Whether you believe in a Great Spirit or nothing at all doesn’t matter. Every day is a new day, we are resilient, strong, and adaptable and can move through this time and out the other side.
This month join me in community, mediation, and surrender.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
-A journal & Pen
-Music: I will no longer be playing music through zoom because the sound quality isn’t great. So please have a way to play mediation music for the guided meditation. Or, sit in the silence of your breath and the sound of the drum.
